Acton's inaugural Winter Carnival was held Sunday, January 29th at the Fair Grounds. The BIA's Josie Bonnette asked the ACC if it could supply some 'Little Rocks' for a curling demonstration.
An ice sheet was created -- rather than doing the demo on Fairy Lake due to uncertainty about the ice thickness. And the hack was a 2x4 rather than a crampet.
In the photo below, the ACC's President Madelene Reed and local curling legend Gordie Toth are on hand to answer questions and provide curling instruction.

Heading again to the Ontario men's curling championship -- this season's tournament in Stratford starting Feb 6th -- is Joe Frans. Frans plays the second position for the Corner rink (Peter Corner, Graeme McCarrel, Frans and Darryl Prebble).

On the weekend of Feb 10-12, the ACC is hosting Ontario Curling Association Zone 9 playdowns for Mixed and Senior Mixed championships. The ACC's doors are open for all to come out and watch. The ACC is represented by three rinks -- Mitch Jewell is skipping an ACC team in the Mixed divison. Peter Hawke and Bruce Garvie lead ACC teams in the Senior Mixed event.
